M31 Designs: Talks with us about King Kickbutt, head replacement for MP Grimlock. The head is nicely sculpted with great attention to detail and nice interchangeable light piping from red to blue. Grimlock has never looked tougher! The MP crown doesnt fit this bigger head but a real king doesnt need a crown. This head looks great!
We talk about the greatest summer movie, Sharknado 2….Guardians of the Galaxy with special guest Geeks of Retro, Richard. We introduce you to YouTube Cooking Show Sensation, Auntie Fee and The Hot and Crazy Matrix (Guide to meeting Women) Thank you all for you continued support!
The movie is essentially an origin story that tells how these five individuals: Peter Quill aka STAR-LORD, a human who was abducted by aliens years ago, GAMORA, a female alien/assassin who is the adoptive daughter of the villainous THANOS, DRAX, an alien warrior in search of vengeance over the death of his family, ROCKET, a genetically engineered raccoon who is a master of weapons and a skilled bounty hunter, and GROOT, a tree-like humanoid who works as ROCKET’s accomplice in capturing or obtaining objects or individuals for a price, would come together to fight a villainous threat named RONAN, who attempts to use one of several INFINITY STONES to help his SAKARRAN army destroy their enemy; the XANDARIANS. At RONAN’s side is NEBULA, another adoptive daughter of THANOS who is loyal to both her adoptive father and to RONAN.
The cast is quite the ensemble. Chris Pratt (“Parks And Recreation”, “Zero Dark Thirty”) plays Peter Quill/Star Lord. Zoe Saldana (“Star Trek: Into Darkness”, “Avatar”), plays Gamora, former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista play s Drax, Karen Gillian (“Doctor Who”) is Nebula, and Lee Pace (“Pushing Daisies”, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”) plays Ronan. Also appearing is John C. Reilly (“Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story”, “Wreck-It-Ralph”), Glenn Close (“Fatal Attraction”, “Damages”), and Benicio Del Toro (“Traffic”, “Sin City”). Del Toro’s character of THE COLLECTOR in this film is a continuation of his character that was seen in the end-credit scene of THOR: THE DARK WORLD, where he received from Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander) the mysterious Aether and replied: “One down, five to go”.
The best moments in the film are given to those who only lent their voices to the movie. Vin Diesel (“The Fast and The Furious”) provides the voice for the tree-like Groot. His moments in this film are a standout because his character can only speak three words: “I am Groot”. But it’s how he is saying them and how he expresses them that make it watchable. Josh Brolin (“Men In Black 3”, “Gangster Squad”) brings a voice to Marvel’s most despised villain, Thanos; whom we have only seen briefly at the end of Marvel’s THE AVENGERS. Here, he gives a glimpse of what this character is all about, and it will lead into what we can expect of Thanos in the upcoming AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. And Bradley Cooper (“The Hangover”, “The A-Team”) is a delight as the voice of Rocket. The scenes with Rocket interacting with Star-Lord, Gamora, and the others are the best in the movie, and I wouldn’t be surprised if plans are made to do a one-shot or a spin-off focusing on Rocket.
This film is a great movie; even if it wasn’t based on a Marvel Comics property, it would still be a great movie. It had the right use of action, drama, and humor to make it appreciative for all ages. There are also moments toward the end of the movie that do hint at a possible sequel. And with the recent announcement that Marvel Studios has green-lit a sequel to this film, there is indeed quite that chance that the end tagline used in the movie is quite true:
“The Guardians of the Galaxy will return”.
