New Comic Shop Spotlight: Gods & Monsters
New Comic Shop Spotlight: GODS & MONSTERS
This past weekend I was in Orlando with my family on my birthday trip. The only thing on my mind was…..NOT Disney or Universal…NO. GODS & MONSTERS! A new comic shop which opened 2 months ago. I saw photos of this store a month back and low and behold I saw a slew of TRANSFORMERS products. For a fat nerd like me its all I need to be very curious and anxious to check it out. At first site, the store is a work of art. The artistry and attention to detail in the store surroundings, shelving and deco is out of this world. Merchandise is carefully placed in sections designed specifically for those items. The right hand side of the store wall is a cool replica of Arkham Asylum check in. This is the location of the cashier, very cool! The left side of the store is a cool art gallery with work by local artists. Now, Lets get to some important stuff, TRANSFORMERS. They are everywhere! Front left has like 6 shelves with a mix of Hasbro, Takara, custom and 3rd Party Merch old and new. The right side of the store has some more great Transformers. Down the center heading back are display cases with Maketoys and TFC combiners. Head further in and you see more cases of loose figures and boxed oldies but the large long display cases in the back of the retail store are full of loose custom Transformers which were crafted by a local guy named, Jarrod. He is an Orlando based artist who has been customizing Transformers for 15 years. The store caters to many genres; from The Walking Dead to Anime. By the time you realize it, you’ve been in there for about an hour. The last cool part is the back wall of the shop. Separated from the retail store are gaming tables and dining booths so you can grab a drink, snack and game with your buds. Card games to arcades, this store is so fun to explore. I am very lucky and spoiled that I have a great shop next to me, Tate’s Comics but NOW going to Orlando just got a whole lot funner for me. Thank you guys!
